Before Your Trailer Arrives: A Checklist
We’ll deliver and set up the trailer right at your desired location. Before it arrives, here’s some things you’ll need to prepare:
- Choose level ground — an uneven surface can affect performance.
- Identify closest outlet location.
- Ensure outlet is on a 20 amp dedicated circuit (no competing appliances).
- Confirm outlet is within safe cable reach (avoid long, thin extension cords).
- If using a generator, test it ahead of time. Check capacity and run time. Make sure you have enough fuel for your desired time of usage.
- Clear debris or obstacles that could interfere with setup and operation.
If you have any questions about why we recommend taking these steps, please continue reading this refrigerated trailer guide as you we seek to offer more answers below.
Refrigerated Trailer Specs

Our refrigerated trailers are 12’L x 7’W x 7’H. The double doors are located at the back of the trailer and the cooling unit is located at the front. Plastic curtains hang inside the double doors to minimize cold air loss and create a barrier against moisture, dust, and insects. If you need shelving in the trailer, please talk to us about what’s compatible with our shelving unit. Next Can refrigerated trailers have advanced temperature control systems to maintain a consistent and precise environment for your perishable goods.
Standard Delivery Practice

The trailer hitch is locked after the initial delivery and placement of the trailer for your safety and ours. This unit can only be moved by a Next Can representative which is why we ask you to have a desired area in mind that meets the power needs before we arrive.
Refrigerated Trailer Power Basics
All of our trailers need to be connected to an external source of electrical power. There are no gasoline engines or emissions. We’ll provide a 25ft cord, so if you need anything longer, you will need to have it on hand. Make sure you have an appropriate power source to connect this cord to. These trailers will work on a circuit with more than one outlet as long as there is no other appliance plugged into one of the other outlets.
Standard Outlet vs. Generator
- Our trailers and the 25ft cord we provide are designed to plug into a regular 110V/120V standard outlet. However, we do ask that you have a 120V outlet with a 20-amp dedicated circuit for consistent performance. This will keep consistent power, prevent breaker trips, and offer a more steady temperature.
- If using a mobile generator, we’d recommend an 8kw model.
Connecting the Power Source Step-By-Step
- Confirm power source is off.
- Plug trailer power cord into outlet or generator.
- Switch power on at both the power source and trailer panel.
- Monitor temperature as unit begins cooling.
- Adjust thermostat per your storage needs.
Start Up and Temperature Monitoring

Generally, a unit takes 30 minutes to an hour to reach necessary temperatures from start up. Cool-down time is affected by your power source, the ambient temperature, but also by door openings. When starting up the refrigerated trailer, keep the doors closed as much as possible so you’re not letting out the cold air. Many of our refrigerated trailers come with temperature monitoring systems, but it’s still advisable to keep an eye on the temperature during use. Regularly check the trailer’s temperature to ensure it stays within the desired range, and be prepared to make adjustments if necessary.
Cleaning and Maintenance
You will not need to clean the trailer upon arrival, but you are welcome to ask us about what you are able to clean afterwards. We regularly inspect, clean, and maintain Next Can refrigerated trailers to meet even your mother-in-law’s standards. So, you can rely on us for safe and contamination-free portable refrigeration of your goods.
Overfill Policy
If a customer overfills or dry-blocks our product, an automatic charge is placed on their rental bill as stated in our Terms of Service.
